International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium:
-Advance of mouse phenotyping for biomedical research
-Joint with RIKEN Symposium
Concept
The International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium (IMPC) is a worldwide coordinated research project launched in September 2010 to analyze basic phenotypes of knockout mice produced for every gene in the mouse genome. The IMPC is revealing biological function of each gene, which has been one of the goals of the genomic sciences because of close homology between mouse and human genomes. The project also aims to provide the scientific community with mouse resources as disease models together with their phenotyping data and gene function information by using a globally standardized pipeline. In this symposium, most important leaders of the IMPC will give introduction on the project. Also, related research frameworks in Japan will be reported. We will discuss how to establish collaborative networks not only with academia but with industry in order to maximize the biomedical value of mouse resources.
